Which Thatch Do I Need and How Much Do I Need?

Depending on the dimensions, you can cover your construction with 800 x 450mm African (Cape Reed) thatch tiles. As it comes in tile form its super flexible and easily clipped onto metal rod or nailed to timber batten. We recommend a minimum roof pitch of 30 degrees.
Another great thing about using African or Bali Thatch is that it can be used as an insulator, being up to 10 degrees cooler than a normal colour bond roof.
Alternatively, you can use the popular Bali (Alang Alang) thatch which comes in 2.5m lengths with a bamboo batten included. We recommend a minimum roof pitch of 30 degrees for Alang Alang thatch.
